About Us

Our Story

Hi there!  I'm a mom, a military family member, and the heart behind U Light The Dark. My twin boys made a decision that changed our lives forever: they joined the Army together. As any military mom knows, that moment fills you with equal parts pride and worry. You want the world to see them, to honor them, to know just how much they matter.

That's where it all began. I started making reflective shirts for my sons — something that would literally light them up in the dark, something that said I see you, I'm proud of you, and I want the world to know it.

And it wasn't just the Army that had me thinking about visibility and safety. My boys ride motorcycles, and any mom who's watched her kids head out on a bike at night knows that particular feeling. I wanted them seen on the road just as much as anywhere else. Reflective gear wasn't just a design choice — it was a mother's way to try and keep my  kids safe. What started as a way to protect and honor my own boys quickly grew into something bigger.

Our Craft

Every design at U Light The Dark is made by hand.  Designed on my home computer playing around with different ideas and then translating that design with reflective vinyl — the kind that catches light and reflects. I'm intentional about keeping layers minimal, using only what the design truly needs. I've learned over time and watching how the boys' shirts hold up with their not-so-gentle wear and handling that fewer layers means the vinyl bonds better to the fabric, holds up through washes, and resists peeling over time.  The shirts I make for the soldiers are the same - lots of shirts, lots of wear and great feedback.  Because a shirt that honors someone should last.

It's a labor of love. Each shirt takes time, patience, and a whole lot of heart. But when I see photos of the soldiers on deployment showing off their gear — or I watch my boys drive away on their bikes with their reflective wings catching the headlights — I know every minute is worth it.

Our Mission

U Light The Dark exists to illuminate people.  Expanding reflective design to all different facets of personal wear and now supporting some business wear as well.  I design for people like us.

When a soldier sends me a custom design they've dreamed up, I think of every one as a hug from home — something they can wear wherever they are, that carries a little piece of the people who love them most.  For my motorcycle riders out there, every reflective design is my way of wrapping a little bit of light around you, to help keep you safe on the road.

Our mission is simple: to light up the dark for those who sacrifice so much. Whether it's a shirt that glows for a mom enjoying some quiet on a night run, a custom design built from a soldier's own vision, or a totally FIRE shirt that fills with light riding down the road - I want every piece to fill you up on the inside and light you up on the outside.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for your service, your strength, and your support. You are seen. You are honored. And together, we light the dark.
